Hey Y'all!! It is another summer at the Great Sand Dunes!!! Check out the new updates!
Last summer, 2008, in the San Luis Valley of Colorado, the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve conducted their first Ambassadors for Wilderness program. After a great experience last summer, we are all looking forward to the 2009 AFW Program!!!!!!

This program was held throughout the summer of 2008. Participation eligibility for the Ambassadors for Wilderness required that the participant be either a current freshman, sophomore, or junior enrolled in a San Luis Valley Junior/Senior High school. The park was kind enough to also include homeschoolers!

The participant was required to submit an application telling a little about him/herself, what their outdoor experience had been, and how enthusiastic the person was about this program.

The program was completely free, and offered a $100.00 scholarship and a choice of either 75 hours of volunteer work, or one elective credit for your high school credit.

If you live in the San Luis Valley area, and meet those requirements by next summer, contact the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve at:
